Fruitful:fundraising is Sean Tully, MInstF(cert), often working with associates and all-round good people. Based in Nottinghamshire, I offer more than a decade’s worth of fundraising, grant-making and third-sector experience in the East Midlands and beyond, predominantly in the field of Statutory, Lottery and Trust grants.
With diverse voluntary sector experience ranging from large, £1m+ turnover charities down to small volunteer-led groups, my fundraising can most obviously be defined by financial return – nearly £1million of grant funding secured in four years. But this tells only part of the story.
Between 2002 and 2007 I worked as a Grants Officer with the Big Lottery Fund, assessing grant applications to the national Strategic Grants programme, and contract-managing a portfolio of grants with a value in excess of £10m.
Sitting on that side of the fence I learned a lot about how grant-makers approach their giving. I talked to a great many applicants and grant holders. I trained fellow Grants Officers to do the work. I watched, listened and learned as the national Grants committee debated and awarded funding decisions.
And since 2008, having achieved Full Certificated Member of the Institute of Fundraising – MinstF(cert) – I have worked with charities to enhance their own fundraising activity, applying many of the lessons that I learned at the Big Lottery Fund and others picked up along the way.
Married, with four children, fruitfulness is a goal of my work, my life and my Christian faith. It inspires my personal vision, values, and vocation.
